Version 0.86 brings guarded batch preparation of ready spoken-word highlights, more responsive native preview, local playback recovery, and a distinct Gemini fallback. 0.86.0 signed in-app updates are available on Windows and Apple Silicon after separate verified promotions. Existing Macs need the 0.85.6 bootstrap before updating in-app; the published GitHub ZIPs provide new-installation and manual-recovery paths.

  1. 01 Fine Timing

    Prepare ready spoken-word highlights across unresolved captions, review uncertain timings individually, and fine-tune caption edges and words with undo and overlap protection.

  2. 02 Looks + motion

    Use six Studio Looks plus Glow, Fade, Rise, Soft Pop, and more responsive native spoken-word preview. Highlighted MP4 export keeps native rendering; SRT carries plain caption text and timing.

  3. 03 Editable handoff

    Take captions onward as SRT, WebVTT, TTML, word-level files, styled ASS, Studio caption data, or a guided ZIP kit.

  4. 04 Khmer-first AI

    Gemini 3.8 Flash leads the wording path with distinct 3.6 Flash fallback. Wrong-script Khmer results are rejected before they reach the project.

Review captions against the real footage, tune their appearance with native Khmer-safe preview, use compatible local fonts, and export either SRT or a locally rendered captioned MP4.

Edit and fine-time
Time, edit, approve, and review captions against the footage, then focus one caption or word when its timing needs precision. If HEVC/H.265 video cannot play in the browser, Prepare playback makes a local H.264/AAC viewing copy without changing the original media or export source.
Looks, motion, and fonts
Style captions with native Khmer-safe Looks and motion, discover compatible Khmer fonts, or add your own local TTF or OTF font.
Export or hand off
Render captioned MP4 locally, export UTF-8 SRT, or choose advanced caption formats when you want to continue editing elsewhere.

Generate and Regenerate send normalized WAV audio, relevant context, and requested wording directly to Google Gemini with your API key. Google’s terms and data-handling policies apply.

Remains local
Caption timing, editing, project storage, preview and render work, creator-added fonts, and exports stay local. History and exports stay local.
Your Gemini key
Your key uses Windows user-protected in-app storage or the macOS Keychain on Apple Silicon installs and source builds. Advanced setups can use GEMINI_API_KEY from the environment or a .env file.
Khmer wording path
Studio 0.86.0 uses Gemini 3.8 Flash first and distinct 3.6 Flash as the context-aware fallback. Unexpected English-only or Thai/Lao output is rejected for Khmer-first work before new captions are saved.
Uploads and retention
Studio sets store: false. Audio is still uploaded through the Gemini File API. Studio does not delete these uploads; Google controls their retention for up to 48 hours. Khmer Caption Contributor and product analytics are separate, default-off opt-ins. Studio privacy details.

The exact v0.86.0 GitHub ZIPs are published for new installations and manual recovery. The Windows and Apple Silicon signed update pointers have been independently verified and promoted; updater-capable Windows installs and Macs with the 0.85.6 bootstrap can now check for the signed 0.86.0 offer. Older Mac installations can install the 0.86.0 ZIP manually.

The command-based installer is not Apple-notarized; Gatekeeper may require Control-click, Open. Intel Macs are not supported.

Mac media toolsBoth FFmpeg and ffprobe must be native arm64 version 8.1.3 or newer with Khmer-safe libass shaping and H.264 encoding. The published FFmpeg 8.1.3 support release includes independently reviewed tools, license notices and complete corresponding source. Studio setup verifies the exact archive checksum and required capabilities before use; v0.86 application and signed update publication have been independently verified.
